For sale is a REBUILT Detroit 6-71 Diesel engine still on frame.
It was professionally rebuilt by Mike's diesel (see tag). Complete
rebuild top to bottom. The company that ordered this costly
rebuild received the diesel, "never got around to" do anything,
the crane rotted away and was replaced, and eventually I purchased
this engine. It is missing the engine dipstick and also there is no
fan, no alternator, and other accessories. The only things you get is
what you see on pictures and NOTHING ELSE.
This is a non-turbo engine, naturally aspirated, the most
long lasting of all Detroits.
The engine does NOT have a flywheel. We did check the starter motor.
Based on our test, if seen from the front of flywheel, the flywheel
on this motor would turn COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.
Based on our attempt to turn this engine over with a wrench, it has
great compression, which you would expect from a rebuilt engine.
